Somebody Tell Me....

I listen to the 0900 news on RTE 1 regularly and as most R1 listeners will know John Murray comes on immediately after.

John usually starts his programme with a 'topically funny' slot which to me is so cringeworthy unfunny and embarrassingly delivered as to force me to immediately switch off or change frequencies.

Is there anyone out there who disagrees with that viewpoint.

Are there people out there who think John s intro is actually witty and funny.

    Just wondering.

    Excellent post, Evan.

Find that piece very difficult to take. John isn't funny, and it always sounds contrived. I also find the Doooblin accent a bit heavy for that hour of the morning. I prefer my radio to be a bit more current affairs orientated at that hour of the morning, as opposed to Murray's more human interest and lifestyle pieces. He certainly isn't a bad interviewer though, and comes across as a nice fella.

He was the press secretary for FF though, just to show there is dark and dank shadows amongst the light.

Stick to Yates over on Newstalk.

Tks Rab, why they persist with that 'slot' is a mystery.
I wouldn't have a problem with a lighter style programme in that slot ,however not a reality offering so beloved of nowadays.

I thought Tubridys stint there was a lot more balanced an less of the "Operation transformation" stuff.

Room for an overhaul in that slot for sure.

Also ,now I'm open to correction here but John was govt press sec.I think and as far as I know was not FF.

May have had connections with LAB and PDs in a journalistic capacity, but I don't think with FF.

Must be taking a break after the Xmas, I see Miriam back this morning
