Tax Refund

    Hi,

I am just wondering if anyone can offer me any advice about this. I only worked for 14 weeks of 2013. Prior to that I was out of the country. I am now currently employed. Would I be entitled to a tax refund for the weeks of 2013 I worked in Ireland? Someone mentioned something about a p60, do I need to accompany this with any other form when I apply for a refund or do I just send that in?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

You should have got a P45 when you left your job last year.

This will show if you paid any tax.

Assuming you had no other income in 2013 then you should be due a refund, but you will need the documentation to put in a claim.

    Hi Valetta,

Thanks for your help. Just to make it clear I was not in the country until September 2013. I started my job, that I am currently still in in mid-September, so I don't have a p45 as I am still employed? Or do you mean I should present my p45 from when I finished up my last job in 2012?

    Thanks

Ah... it's a P60 then that you will need.

they are probably not issued yet as we are only two days past the year end.

When you do get it send it in to your local tax office and ask for a P21 balancing statement.

This will then show any refund due.

 OP only started job in September, so they should get a p60 in the coming months for 2013.

OP: Your employer should have given you the full tax credits for the year in your pay between Sep-Dec.
If not, you will be due a refund.
Check your final 2013 payslip for tax credits given opposed to your entitlement.
