Replacing old paper driving license with new card one

    Morning all.

    When the new card drivers license came out first, there was mention that you could not replace your old paper one till it was to expire... is this still the case? mine is in rag order and i am half tempted to "accidentally" wash the bloody thing to get a new proper one... Other than doing that, can i just get a replacement?

    There is still a 4-6 week wait so I wouldnt bother. And its 50 odd quid!

    4-6 weeks is not a problem, and, tell you the truth, 50 quid aint bad... 35 is better though if you "lose" it or its "destroyed"...

    I got a plastic one with 9 years still on my paper licence. I got it by changing my name (removal of middle name from licence) and the cost is free.
