    Hey folks,

Just wondering if anyone has any advice regarding the traffic situation in and around Clonskeagh in the mornings? I will be heading out to the Belfield Office Park from now on for work purposes and I drive from Firhouse. Should I be giving myself 2 hours in the monring to do a normally 25 minute drive?

Any feedback or tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards

Avoid Terenure! Do you have parking?

Its 9-10km. Even a novice cyclist should be able to do it in 40 minutes. East of Rathfarnham there would be very little interaction with traffic. Use the cycle planner here: http://www.journeyplanner.transportforireland.ie/cp/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en

    Thanks for the Reply Victor,

Yes, there is onsite parking. The long term plan is to cycle, but I have to buy a bike first which may take about 2 months. Until then, driving will be my only option.

Traffic on the way in and out of the office park is extremely heavy at 9am and 5pm. You could be waiting 30 minutes to get onto the Clonskeagh road in the evening.

Traffic wise, your best bet would probably be M50 - Dundrum - Bird Avenue - Clonskeagh.

Nightmare, try to get a 7:30am start and you'll be golden.

As an alternative to consider to avoid the traffic on Beaver Row at the entrance to the office park, you could try parking in UCD.

South of the office park (check it out on sat view on google maps) there is a gravel filled car park (north of the building with phillips on the roof) there is a path from that car park to a gate into the office park. You'll have to ask around to get the code, but that shouldn't be too hard. You'd be going into UCD from the next gate up from AIB (red brick pillars at the gate) so traffic wouldn't be as bad there.

    I was thinking M50 - Dundrum/Sandyford Exit - Drummartin Link - Goatstown Road - Roebuck - Clonskeagh Road

In your experience, is going the Ballinteer Road - Dundrum Wood - Dundrum Road - Bird Avenue route quicker?

Both of these are a complete (but unavoidable!) disaster in the mornings. You could take more than half an hour from the dundrum bypass to bird avenue easily, and the junction at the goat is a disaster as well.

Could you borrow one. You could pick one up 2nd hand very quickly and cheaply. I assume you will be using the cycle to work scheme and hence the 2 month delay..

I drive Terenure to Richview office park(next to UCD entrance). Start for 9 and it usually takes 20 minutes max. So add 10 minutes from firhouse via Templeogue..

Grand cycle in.. More uphill coming home!

    Map..

It would really depend on what side of Terenure.
