    Hi guys,

From your experience, who are best independent (i.e. non-main dealer) BMW servicing and repair specialists in Dublin City area?

    Thanks

I've used Valdas in Motor Confidence on many occasions with my current and previous cars. Would not fault him in any way!

Sorry for dragging up an old thread but I think it's worth giving feedback.

Went with Motor Confidence in the end. Great service and managed to get booked in Friday morning when making a call Thursday evening.
Went in for a full service and glowplug replacement, Valdas recommend I remove the swirl flaps and replace gaskets as well since inlet manifold was off. The price was great considering the amount of work done and I would've been charged at least 2-3 times as much in a BMW garage.

Garage was easy find and literally 2 minutes from the Red Cow M50 junction.

Would deffo recommend to anyone with a BMW.

I have a 1-Series 2009. I need the oil, oil filter and fuel filter replaced. I already bought and have all three but dont have the tools to do the job. A couple of garages I went to said they supply their own parts and wont touch mine.

Its only labour that I need. Anyone have any reccomendations?

Question - i bought a used f10 from frank keane last year with 2 year warranty.

Am i stuck going back to them for annual service for duration of warranty, then use independent after that? Or would you go direct to an indy now?

while its in warranty keep it with a main dealer... Also I wouldnt be breaking full dealer service history on a relatively new car, if you go to sell it, it will make it more attractive to most buyers, rightly or wrongly... Its different when they go 5/6 years old etc, then decent indy by all means...

    +1

That's the reason I told my dad to get the 5 year service pack. It's only €500 on the F10 and it's worth it's weight in gold IMHO. Had it on the E60 too, and he didn't spend a penny on servicing that car.

After that good Indy, Mark the service book as normal and keep every receipt from new.

My daughter used Bloomfield Indy BMW in Dublin 8 for failed coil pack on 3 series E90, €40 for part, €60 labour. Fair enough.

Exactly same issue ( common problem) occurred in Galway, garage there charged€190 total, but that did include a coil pack, a €20 spark plug and €40 for plugging into the diagnostic machine which I thought was a bit of a liberty and €15 for taxi to get the part short notice.

Great advice - I've a 06 BMW touring SE and clutch ad fly wheel went - was quoted €3,100 +vat in a Dublin BMW franchised garage - I said PFO!!! and took it to garage I know near walkinstown roundabout where they fitted all and full service for €1,300!
Will never be going main dealer again -esp not on an 8 year old car that's still a gem (with a new clutch now also!!!!!)

there is no way I would be going near BM once the car hits 4 or 5 years, unless you are driving a 7 series etc and dont need to worry about money. the only thing I would be using them for up until the 4-5 year point would be servicing, nothing should be failing before that unless the mileage is very high...
