Remembering the great war.

I was, just now, reading through a certain private members forum which may or may not exist and may or may not be a merge of 3 separate members forums into one.

Back in the recess of time, boards.ie was less populated than it was now and the Gods (admins) and demi-gods (cat mods) were fewer and more involved in our every day life.

There were, in this time, several factions. Mostly benevolent in nature and at peace with each other.

There was DeVore and his friends in their super sekrit "freemasons" forum.
There was the rebelous upstarts of the Knights of Comeonbanus.
There was true power brokers in The Illuminati

And then there was the two factions for whom peace and reconciliation was not an option.

The Kittencake and The Ninja.

For many moons a great and terrible war was waged in the boards universe.
Friend turned against friend, brother turned against brother, husband against wife, even Admins were on opposing sides. And Monty turned against everyone and handed out bans at a pace not seen before or since.

The followers of The Kitten and the Cake sought to wipe the Ninja hoard from the face of the forums and The Ninjas fought back against their oppressors with a ferocity unmatched in living memory.

Many were lost in the great war and those of us who survived still live with the horror we endured and the evil we committed in the service of our factions.

Some of the survivors have gone on to become Administrators and C-Mods, others have since been permabanned, most have managed to just get by, day to day, trying to forget the things they saw and live a normal life.

George Santanyana once said "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it".

Let us never forget the great war and those who fought in it, on both sides, and let us never allow ourselves to repeat the mistakes of our forefathers.
