Can anyone tell me if it is possible to regain a rounded and pert bottom through exercise?
    Details:
    female
    40 +
previously enviable bottom has lost it's shape due to weight gain and no exercise for ten years.

(trying to motivate a close friend who thinks she has left it too late)

Of course it is, but it takes a lot of work. Your friend is very possibly just making excuses :/

There's no such thing as "too late". Do a google for "Old bodybuilders" and you'll find videos and pictures of people in their 70s, 80s and 90s with physiques that people in their 30s would envy.

However, it does get more difficult with age, so the longer you leave it, the harder it will be to turn a fat arse into a hot one. Note that you can't do a single exercise and magically turn a flabby arse into a tight one. She will need to first of all lose weight to remove the bulk of the wobble and unshapeliness, and while doing so, get some exercise to build and tone muscle.
No matter how many ads, magazines and books say it, there is no magical five-minutes-a-day exercise that will transform your anything into a celebrity's.

Absolutely and is all about squatting. Have someone teach you how do front and back squats, deadlifting will help round things off ;)

Be sure and do them heavy and regularly.

If your "friend" hasn't exercised in 10 years then she should start of with the most basic/simple moves. Front/back squats and deadlifts are excellent but having to learn these exercises can really suck the motivation clean out of a person. Chair Squats and supported Reverse Lunges are the two simplest/efficient exercises for a beginner who wants to target their lower half. Any ability level can perform these and believe me your friend's ass will feel it the next day :)

lunges, split squats, single leg bridging and single leg deadlifts also work wonders in muscles you didn't even know you had...

Maybe we should get her to do snatches? I mean she hasn't exercised in 10 years.

New plan only do Human flags, muscle ups and snatches.

Sh1t needs to be scaled down in the beginning and then it can be scaled up.

    Plus squats suck :pac:

in fairness with the right coach anyone can be taught squats regardless if the have never trained at all, seen plenty of examples of it. A good coach will work on mobility and teach the movement by scaling the weight.

Ladies I find pick it up quicker than men due to having more open hips and are less likely to have tight areas from playing sports (man that sounds all wrong but ya get my drift). And the ladies are pretty motivated as its the fashionable fitness thing to do right now.

    Squats ain't rocket science.

Eat right, do some cardio and squat until you cannot squat anymore.

    Then squat some more

Squats, deadlifts and lunges are your best friends!!!
Go heavy, heavier than you're comfortable.
Lifting two months and my ass is round, firm and up up up
