Not a bad price assuming you get a live calf out of them.

Depends on the animal. How many lads are interested and when your buying them. I have seen good cows with calves at foot sell for less than springers at a few marts. Anything from 1000 up with a few I seen making up to 2500. 1400 is as much I believe can realistically be paid for an average springer and still hope to maybe make a few quid.

Also remember the asking price on donedeal is just that. I'd like to know what they actually get for allot of these.

Just keep in mind lads that a registered pedigree dairy heifer with an income potential of €2000 was making €1300 last spring. What's your average sucklers potential income? How can you justify paying more for her than she will gross in a year? Especially when anecdotally farmers are culling suckler cows into the factories for sport because there is no other demand for them.

You are spot on there freedom , a springing dairy heifer will start paying you back almost straight away too . Its just madness paying big bucks for sucklers but thats why the suckler herd will never die , lads are addicted to it .
I have a miserable looking suckler herd here , because any tasty looking heifer gets bulled and sold when the money is good for them
