Can anyone explain what |= means as well as what it means with a / through the = ? I would assume that / just means not. We're using these symbols in logic and not maths but I didn't know of anywhere better to put the thread. Thanks.

Can a mod close or delete this? I've found the answer elsewhere, thanks.

Say if you have V1 |= x=y it would mean that the equation x=y is true for the valuation V1. With the / across the = it means that it's not true for the valuation V1. V is the set of values to be substituted into the equation. e.g. V = {x,y} and each V has one unique value for each variable.

Is it one of the symbols here?

    e.g. "x ⊨ y means x semantically entails y"

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

    Yeah, that's it.
