The Titan 650B doesn't look half bad. Disk breaks are a step up from the V's and I found the sram X4 gears bomb proof, had a dirt jump bike a few years ago with the same setup, never broke and I rode the bike into the ground. 650B seem to be the way MTB wheel sizes are going in the future. My first "proper" MTB was a Carrera. Not half bad when properly put together!

if i was you i'd save another €100 or so and buy a "trek" mountain bike,i done a load of research on this about a year and a half ago and had my heart set on a carrera ,but after reading horror story reviews and asking other bikers advice i changed my mind and went for a trek to avoid disappointment down the line,so far after heavy mountain/trail usage and countless road kilometers i'm very happy with my decision.

This would be a better idea. My advice was only really if you are very stuck with your budget.

I would also try get some more money together to try get a better bike which is better built. Also mechanical disc brakes have always been poor and most mountain bikers would prefer a decent v-brake setup than go for a mechanical disc brake setup. Neither look great for off road action in terms of wheels and components also.

Any chance you can get a bike on the bike 2 work scheme if you are working?

Cheers for replies. It's only light use it'll be getting to be honest, just leisurely cycles and that, no serious off road or anything.. Maybe 3 or 4 times a week I'll be on it for about 5 miles at a time.
