Anyone ever seen their Garmin not save ride data? I have the meta data (distance done, time taken, max speed) but there is no further data about where I have ridden. It's done this three times now.

    It's an Edge 705.

Have you checked the memory and deleted old rides?

Yep, last time it happened I deleted all history. This time was there was only one ride (the one I just completed) present.

    Have you reset it?

Ok. Have a garmin problem myself, having just got an edge 500 from Santa, and not being that tech savvy. Was going to staer e new thread, but it seems to fit here (hope you don't mind Raam)
I have a garmin account (for Santa to purchase said Garmin), but when I go to log in, I can't, ie I enter my username and correct password, but no joy - just leaves fields blank to re-enter. I have checked my username - got it confirmed by e-mail, and ditto got password reset twice..

The one time I did manage to log in was to the support service when this was driving me barmy, but still no joy logging in to Garmin connect.

Is it (a) different garmin account needed for purchases on garmin site and garmin connect?
or (b) Everyone who got a Garmin over Christmas is using site and causing traffic problems?
or (c) something else eg pure dumbness on my part?

    Try a different browser?

I'd say it's (a), garmin connect and the garmin store are probably separate entities. No harm trying to make another account on garmin connect this time anyway?

Its Not A as I can log in OK with my username and password into both connect and the garmin website.

Are you using Google Chrome? I know Garmin's don't like the IE browser.

Tried Chrome & Explorer. Yes I think I should have just one account - when I try to log in to garmin connect, it does allow me to retrieve a new password.
Brand new unit bollixed!!!! - hopefully not, and the website doesn't know what unit I have (although I did register it - perhaps they give substandard service to lowly garmin 500 users!!)
Anyway thanks for quick replies guys. I was hoping somebody would say they also had trouble logging in this evening, which would suggest site problem.
I really want to play with my new toy, and upload my first garmin tracked spin yesterday. icon8.png

    Try Strava.

Just because you can't log into garmin connect, doesn't mean your garmin is faulty. Do you have a strava account?

Also, make sure you have the garmin communicator plugin installed on your PC.

Can I upload from garmin device directly to Strava without first doing the garmin connect thing??!!

To track on strava is the ultimate aim.

As I said, not that tech savvy, and a total GPS unit virgin.

    Please be gentle with me.

Had some probs with communicator also, but I may look into the direct to strava route.

I've had problems on and off with Garmin connect for the last couple of months or so. Apparently they are developing a new interface/site.
Lately I have not bothered with it at all and I have just uploaded rides direct to Strava and endomondo.

Log on to strava, follow their instructions. Garmin connect not required. Garmin Communicator is though.

Ok - will try that after Donal Walsh documentary.

    Thanks for all replies.

When I got mine a few weeks ago I had similar issues.

Turning off Ad Blocker (Chrome) for garmin and garmin.connect sorted mine out.

I had the same problem with my Garmin 500. Eventually rang Garmin helpline. There were two accounts in operation. Garmin deleted one and no problems since.
