Ok, once again on the last day of the year, this thread is looking for your ONE favourite photo taken in the past year (by yourself).

If you would like to include a brief description/narrative as to why you picked it,that would be great.

To get the ball rolling I am nominating this as mine.



Not a very noble reason I’m afraid- just because it got me my first Boards POTW for 2 years and my 2nd ever!

Photo was taken in October in Slovakia at 6 30am – the temperature was about minus 3- my fingers were frozen!
The Tatra mountains create the background and a large part of the reflection.

I took this photo on my stag weekend. We rented a boat down Lough Erne and in the small time I had to get away, I managed to capture this photo of the boats mooring for the evening.

Elena has been my most favourite subject for the last 3 years and makes up probably 95% of my photos. For the few months around the time of this photo she used her second finger to indicate "one". This, coupled with her saying "cheeeeeese" at the time of the photo, led to a shot that I will use to embarrass her at her wedding should I be lucky enough to be still around for it.

Incidentally, the caption I had chosen for this photo was "Take it outa this, Dad!"

this pic i like a lot, because the colours of the sky were amazing! i was out with a pal of mine & hubby, snapping pics off the pier in balbriggan. height of summer. good times!

2013 was my first year with a camera, I'm still a complete beginner but enjoying the progress I've made.
This is my favourite pic this year as it's getting closer to what I want to do.

Photography wise, it was an interesting year. Didn't press the shutter that much but discovered what I like to frame, still struggling how to present it thou.
That said this is my favorite.

Only really got into using my camera this year, got a lot of learning to do yet. This was my first attempt at thinking outside the box when it came to post processing. Got a bit lazy with the brush in lightroom, should tidy it up a bit..

Probably this. Around the time I took this I was reading a book about photo projects and I decided to embark on one. This sums up the type of shot I'm going to be going for with it. (And on a downside my two film cameras broke over the next few days.)

I spotted this Puffin with Sea Campion flower in it's beak and thought it was different to the normal Sand Eels you see them with.

My personal favourite of 2013 was this shot, while it may not be anything special for others, I personally love it as it is one of the better ones I've taken, the smoothness, the detail in the stone on the bridge and also I like the black and white with the image.

I photographed this fire breather in an old abandoned building a few weeks ago. It was planned at the last minute and I had no idea how it would turn out as I've never done anything like this before, but I'm happy with the result.

I took this one in Covent Garden in London during the summer. I'd been walking around for a couple of hours taking some shots and none of them were focusing properly (turned out to be a problem with the way the lens was mounted) Anyway I was getting annoyed and was just about to put the camera away when I spotted this elderly couple standing watching a street performer. They were well into their 70s and obviously very much in love still, holding hands, and shooting each other lovely little glances as they enjoyed the show together. I took a few of their faces from the front, but was particularly moved by the way they held hands so tightly, so then took this one of just the hands. I love the texture of their clothes and skin. Always bugs me a bit that he looks one legged- but sure you cant get everything!

This my favourite, taken on a particularly stressful visit to London and I was in a fierce temper, when I turned and saw this building, fading light, no tripod and fuming to boot! I loved the way it turned out and it was also the first print I have ever sold to a stranger!

It was taken with My phone (HTC one) like most of my photos.
I really need to buy a DSLR but don't have the money for it now, I have a Nikon L810 but don't use it much because I find the contrast poor and it has a very slow shutter speed (my phone is faster).
