So what's on your must-have list for 2014? Any grail purchases planned? For me, I want to buy my no1 grail game, & one I've been regretting selling for a long long time.

    This, Snatcher CD

    snatcher-frontboxart_160h.jpg

If I got nothing else in 2014 but that, I'll be happy. Some may scoff, but I have a real soft spot for that game & really have to own it again. I'd also really like to pick up E.V.O. for the Snes, & ideally, Earthbound.

Earthbound and Wild Guns would be two priorities for me. Lately I've gone off collecting retro games and been mainly focusing on the Wii U but I'm sure I`ll get the urge again.

Really want to get a sd2snes at some point too for homebrew games and the like.

I was mad to get Starfox 2 last year but after watching play throughs on the net its just not that good!

I was just about to say 'but don't you already have a PAL copy of that?!' - didn't know you sold it, that's awful! :(. It's been on my list for many years, just can't seem to net it for a good price. The PAL version is one of those games which is genuinely rare.

Myself, I'm actually fairly content now! 2014 is all going to be about how the hell I fit everything into a new house. Might be googling for those attic conversion pics you put up previously :D

Here's the stuff I've been searching for in 2013 which went unfulfilled though. Funny thing, every single one of these popped up during the year, just the timing was wrong with regards to fundage. Hopefully things will change in 2014 :)

    In The Hunt
    Esp.Ra.De
    Battle Garegga
    Gun Force II
    Progear
    Pulstar
    Psyvariar : Revision
    Raiden Fighters
    Undercover Cops Alpha
    BVM/PVM Sony CRT

Regarding new games, only one is Dark Souls II. Can kind of assume a few months during the year will be taken up by that game - I cannot wait! :)

No the one I had was the US version, it came with a bunch of other games when I got a Genesis, Mega CD & 32X from a US relative yonks ago. Sold the lot in my stupid years {teens}

The one I'll buy again will be the US version, for nostalgia reasons. The game just doesn't pop up for cheap, so I'll likely pay full whack for it...but feck it, it's not gonna ever get cheaper so may as well take the hit sooner rather then later :(

Shame we can't all speak Japanese, could pick it up for a tenner or so then! :D

I think the NTSC US version is a little less rare than the PAL one. However, it's even more desirable it would seem, so that probably makes it even harder to get.

Must add Clock Tower 1 to the list. Been really interested in playing that one.

If I were to pick it up, it'd be a Snes conversion cart. You can get them for decent enough prices :)

This year I want to pick up
    Harmful Park
    Gleylancer
A modded 360 so I can pick up Deathsmiles 2 and the rest of the Shmuppy goodness that's not available here!
A little HD display for the games room as the 360 and PS4 make their way to their well earned retirement up there.
Hardware, not sure there's anything I really want, a PC Engine GT or Turbo Express would be sweet.
3DS:XL and a 2DS too, also a DSiXL to complete the family.
Hopefully Vita men cards will get a bit cheaper and I'll pick up a 32gb one.

Or that film about a woman with a human-eating snake thing growing out of her armpit... (no reference to Retr0gamer there and his disease from a while back! :D)

Wish I could remember the name of it. I think it was made by David Cronenberg.

Going to concentrate on using stuff this year rather then buying !!

Got a lot of 8 bit computers recently so planning on getting them all setup with drives, floppy emulators, rom boards etc. Hopefully fix some of my other broken stuff as well..

Got it into my head that I'd like to build up an Atari collection this year. Primarily the Lynx due to convenience and wanting to play S.T.U.N. Runner on one. Also have never picked up a 2600 and am getting tempted - Pac Man on my uncle's 2600 was first game I ever played.

Planning on going to Japan again this summer so will draw up a plan for that in a few months time, when I've figured out my budget :)

Remember one thing about the Lynx, they're really prone to capacitor failure, as bad as the Gamegear. :(

So you'll need to pick one up which has had a cap kit.

    Christ that version was awful!
It's a wonder you ever got into gaming after that terrible introduction!

here's what they managed much later, how it should have looked.

Ah the 2600, so many memories, so many crap games.

4 player Warlords makes up for it though :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 33,733 ✭✭✭✭Myrddin

Which reminds me, I need to add a psu & two 2600 joysticks to my 2014 list. I've a Junior & a Vader sitting there with no psu/sticks for years

Yeah I know it's infamous for being crap, but to my 4 year-old self it was the greatest thing I'd ever seen. That and Missile Command (which I'm pretty sure I just found too hard) were my introduction to gaming. My parents set out to get us a 2600 that Christmas but were talked into a NES by the shop staff.

And a Nintendo obsessive was born.

    Shivers?

Nope. I think it was called Rabid. Though I may be confusing it with another film called Rabid Grannies. I forget...

EDIT: A quick consultation of IMDB confirms it was indeed Rabid. Rabid Grannies wasn't by Cronenberg. Always thought it was for some reason...

Wild Guns and Earthbound for me as well. Maybe a US 3DO but I don't see that happening.

The big one for me though is hopefully getting to Japan this year.

When looking at Atariage and the pacman 4k cart there's an incredible new version of Warlords there as well..
Tempted to buy it myself, about $25 as well.
    Looks amazing.

Need to mount my 32" inch tv on the wall in spare room, along with cables in the walls for Atari 2600, Snes and spare PS3.
    Any advice?

    Elves.

    Or Pixies.

    They'll do it.

But not Brownies, devious little gits.

copy of gauntlet the third encounter on the lynx
    a Pc engine
possibly an odd old computer like the bbc micro or oric
    yeah that'd do it!

I dunno what I'm going to go after this year. I'd like to complete my pokemon game collection, which is very do-able. Maybe get a PC Engine too and just expand my NTSC-J library in general.

A big wad of sweaty cash to help fund this more and more expensive hobby (obsession).

I wish I wasn't flat broke and didn't have to sell my stuff :(

We really need to set up a RSPRC with the funds all channeling to myself. It's the only fair thing to do.

    2) E.V.O.

I really did not like Egret 29s one bit, until that picture was posted over on AO.

Absolutely love them now! I think that setup changed quite a few people's opinions on them :)

I think you may have the co-ordinates on your game collecting graph mixed up, reverse them and check your data, then let us know the result.
