    Hey everyone,

Looking to get into cycling as it seems to be a flexible way to exercise and also a bit of craic. I'm primarily looking to commute to work, but also hope to do some mountain biking.

By reading up online, a hybrid bike is the way to go and after having a looking around, the Sirrus 2014 is shaping up nicely http://www.cycleways.com/store/product/71365/Sirrus-2014/#

Does anyone have any other recommendations or will this suit MTB and cycling to work?

    Cheers for the help

Thats a good hybrid, v suitable for commuting etc on roads, but not suitable for MTBing as no suspension, and road type tyres.
But a proper Mountain bike would be a pain in the ass for any distance of commuting as suspension, and knobbly tyres make for inefficient road travel.

Lots of people say that they might do a bit of mountain biking, but few of them actually do. Are you certain that you will?

A mountain bike would be better for off road and a road bike would be faster but this is faster than a mountain bike and much better off road than a road bike......

This is what I have and it's grand on forestry roads and trails. I've done parts of the Sligo Way on it no problem. Don't think it's suited for any real hardcore but for mucking around it's great. It's also fast on the road, 29"wheel. A lot of people will say you don't need the suspension but I find it makes a fair difference on the rough.
Some hybrids are more like a road bike than mtb , the roam is definitely more like a light mountain bike.
