    OK,

Does anyone know if it's possible to change a post 2008 car with a high emissions onto a lower tax band following remapping?

Say yuo had a 2008 car that was available in various different bhps using the same engine. All you'd need to do is get the car remapped, stamped by a main dealer and use a RF111 (CHANGE OF PARTICULARS form) to reclassify the car as having lower emissions. Then apply for lower tax?

Anyone got any experience with this? Thanks

Emission data is certified by the car manufacturer in conjunction with EU regulations when the car is new. How would a dealer go about retest/certify this to satisfy Revenue?

I have it on fairly good authority that it is impossible to change the emissions band of a car. (there is no facility for doing this)

This applies even if you change the engine ;)

So it can't be changed to lower band... does that mean it can't be changed to a higher band also.?
What if one was to take a 2008 low band car and fit a v12 into it.

    Yes it does:D

I have no link for this, but the person who told me, knows what he's talking about.

Obviously I stand to be corrected!

I never thought I'd see the day when people start modding they're cars with the intention of reducing the power.

    Bring back octane.ie

    No!

There is no mechanism to change the emissions data of a given car.
Did you even read the rest of the thread???
