You will need a sky subscription to view on mainland Europe but even that could be a problem depending on where you are situated

Near enough impossible to get it past mid Germany and mid France southwards. Its on the tight uk beam. I know of an Irish bar in krakow that has a 2m dish that gets it and BBC, ITV etc, but in bad weather its not reliable. I've a 1.1m dish and not a sniff. If I put my meter on the dish , there is signal but very weak, not enough to register on a receiver. I'm south east poland.

Your best bet is via internet, that's what I use. Can't say on here how to get it, but it is possible. I only watch the news but I use filmon for BBC, ITV etc.

Thanks for the all the replies.
its for my mate that lives in Vienna in Austria . he was asking if it was possible.
I will tell him to ring sky . he was wondering about watching the irish channels live as opposed to real player.

if any one has anythoughts please send me a PM if you want

You wont get it via SKY unless you have a big dish. Like I said it cant be discussed here but you can watch the Irish tv channels live on internet via aertv.ie but you will need to do something to your internet connection to be able to watch it outside Ireland.

A combination of aertv and filmon is all you need for the free basic channels. Picture quality is decent and both are free

If he rings Sky surely they will tell him its not possible as Irish subscription cards have to be registered to an Irish address?

I was holidaying in the Algarve in the summer and RTE was available there via Sky in an Irish bar. Unsure of dish size though.

A lot of bars and apartments in Spain and Portugal have their own IPTV services. Its something like a tenner a month for rte and the uk FTA channels via broadband connection. One of my friends has a service. Dishes are up to 2.5m down the the Spanish neck of the woods.

It would need to be registered at an Irish address and then taken to Austria
