Yep, it seems he's got a permanent weekend slot over at 98

He had a good career with RTE over a decade ago, presenting the 2fm breakfast show in the morning and the den in the afternoon.

Perhaps he can travel to work in a DeLorean.

Yes... just like anyone with a working DeLorean could... (not that he has one)...

Clampers are notorious around the Malt House though... where he's doing weekend and swing jock work for 98FM.

Did he take over from D'Arcy as host of the Den? The old fair with the turkey and sock monster, not the later versions.

I recall he was once a DJ on 2FM and who also presented childrens programmes on The Den on RTE N2 back around the late 90s or thereabouts. He never made much of an impact as a presenter on The Den or as a 2FM disc jockey back in the day in my view. Ian Dempsey and later Ray D'Arcy would have led the way on The Den and have remained very popular and relevant as Radio Presenters to this day given their respectable listenership ratings on 100-102 Today FM. Damian McCaul just did not have wide popular appeal or outgoing personality so; I guess that's why he never managed to achieve similar success to Dempsey & D'Arcy especially in recent years. I did not even know that Damian McCaul was still on radio in Ireland to be honest as I have not heard his name mentioned for a long time.

I think Today FM missed a trick when they didn't replace Ray Foley with Damian McCaul. Imagine the line up, First Ian Dempsey, Den Ray D'Arcy, Den Damian McCaul. Maybe slot in Zig & Zag for the Lunchtime News & Sport. :D

    This too shall pass.

HaHa - Den Francis was at the helm in The DEN (Den, Den, Den, Den Deeeeennn!) who flopped even further! He made no lasting impact either tbh
RTE should never have lost Dempsey & D'Arcy - they just never appreciated them properly while they were working at RTE and took them for granted. They paid a very high price as the 2FM Breakfast Show has never enjoyed the same success ever since Iano brought the same show across to rival station: 100-102 TODAY FM back in 1998. Ray could have also played a useful role after his years on Jo Maxi, then Den TV and then the popular TV Quiz for schools: "Blackboard Jungle".
2FM has to re-invent itself so expect more changes shortly, more sports coverage and more promotion through home produced RTE programmes such as: The Voice of Ireland, How Clean is your Town featuring 2FM's Colm Hayes, Tubs reminding us when he ends each edition of The Late Late Show that he's back on the radio on Monday morning on RTE 2FM at 09:00am etc; 2FM is in terminal decline - it probably needs a new name including new brand identity once ready to re-focus towards the right target listenership. Failure to get it right this time will lead to closure or sell off otherwise as it is draining scarce resources and I suspect it would not be sorely missed as there are so many other local, regional, national, DAB, Internet radio channels from home & abroad and other options out there these days for the audience.
