Well i shot myself in the foot,

I said a few days ago mondeos were bulletproof, and while driving home yesterday the esp (stability protection) light came on, which according to owners manual is a malfunction.

Any ideas what is causing it and if its expensive to fix.

    Regards

The warning light means there is a fault in the system. The first step is a diagnostic scan which will tell you what code is stored. Until that is done there is no way of telling how much it will cost to sort out.

Which shape Mondeo is it? 07 could be either Mk3 or Mk4.

Its a mk4. Gonna ring main dealers to see they are open .also when it happens there is a definite drop in power.

It doesn't necessarily need to go to a main dealer. Most decent independent garages should have the diagnostic gear to scan it.

The ABS system is quite troublesome on those Mondeos, from wheel speed sensors to wiring to ABS units, all aspects of the system can cause problems.
