I have a cracking PB cow that won't keep when AI'd...... failed 5 times last year then neighbours bull popped in and did her first jump!!!she has been served twice this time and bulling again this evening is there any injection I can give to help her keep or is it a matter of playing the odds.....u could set ur watch by her every 21 days without fail....AI man has offered to give her a few different breeds together to increase chances but I'm hoping to go pure bred if I can

I used a injection last spring on a co and for the likes of me cant think of the name, injected her after service and she scanned incalf to a frieisan ai

Maybe you are doing her too early or too late. Ideally 8 hours after you see her in standing heat.

    Receptol at serving can help.

Have tried her everyway early late even again the next day.....the curse of pure bred or what

Ya, there is an injection to be given at serving and then again round 12 days or so.
Did you get her blood tested to see if she's lacking in anything? Bull is the best thing for her as a last chance. We often brought ours on 'dates' to the neighbours bull if they weren't going incalf via A.I.

How is the AI man's conception rates with your other cattle?

AI man is spot on its only this lady thats breaking out....had her scanned and she is clean no cysts etc. Hard to beat a bull all the same I must ask vet for that injection

How long was she with the bull? Could yyou leave her there a few days. Read somewhere about washing them out on heat. Has she a calf on her?

5times ugh, are you sure its worth the hassle? Thats alot of open days which the cow is costing you money!

I would get her blood tested aswell to see is she lacking in something or is something else up .
I know this kind of thing happens with purebreds but I dont know why lads keep them , when you think about it they are not the type that should be bred from at all if you want to improve the breed

Had a pb aa cow a few years ago kept repeating. We brought her to ucd vet hospital. They washed her out with dye and checked her out. She held to stock bull on next heat

I had the same problem with a pb fr cow washed her out with lugals iodine and boiled water. And she held to next service.

It was the difference between her calving at 2 yo or 2.5yo last year and I don't want to go down that road again. Neighbours bull got to her n 5 mins so I know I can get her in calf with him again anytime I want....but I am hoping to keep for breeding pure bred for me ....I'm just baffled why AI ineffective with her .......guess she likes it "au naturale"

give cow receptal 2.5 ml into muscle half an hour before AI. Repeat injection in 11 days.

Have a PB cow best I have the same, tried everything rinsing, receptal, courses etc will only hold to bull . real pain as I would love to serve her with a top AI bull and have spent a load of money trying to do so.

insert a CIDR (get from vet for €5 to €8) about 8 days before she is due to go into heat, this will improve the rate of conception by 60%.

a lot haz to do with the fertility of the type of bull the ai straw is from, what bread is she? what bull are you using on her?
