Hi everyone, I'm hoping to get some feedback on opening an online business for reselling Lighthouse products here in Ireland. I'm a collector of coins, banknotes and stamps. I have been using their products for a good few years and think they're great. I suppose my question here is as follows

Is there enough of a market for this stuff here in Ireland?

    I'd appreciate some opinions, thanks

Not wishing to pour cold water on your idea but what advantages could you offer people buying from your business as opposed to buying direct? I dabble in buying and selling online but it's nigh impossible to find a worthwhile niche as the big players will always be able to undercut you in price and offer a bigger range. If you're based in Ireland, is there some uniquely Irish coin/banknote/stamp service that you could offer to overseas collectors? :)

There was a guy from Dublin selling lighthouse products, the last time I was talking to him ( a good few years ago) he was giving it up because it wasnt worth his while, it was too easy for people to buy direct

If you do set it up you will probably make a bit on it but not a whole lot, just dont invest too much in stock

Sound for the answers lads. I wouldn't be doing it as a full time thing unless I made some good money from it, which is unlikely. I'll probably buy some popular stock to start off and see how I do from there.

What I find is there is no coin products for Irish coinage, I store UNC coins in Caps and had to buy case, trays and caps to suit, so had a lot left over trays and Caps. Not bothered by this as I'll use them anyway somewhere, but would be nice to have a pre built set of coin storage. This was pre decimal coinage. Looking at doing the same for decimal coinage.

I find that buying supplies from abroad its the shipping costs that can be the killer. If its possible to keep down shipping costs down then you could be in a favourable position.
