Maybe you didn't notice, but a big hullabaloo about Phil Robertson making allegedly homophobic and racist remarks (please don't start - just relaying what the media have been saying) and the series being pulled before Christmas by the show's producers etc.

A petition to reinstate him on Twitter was blocked online, before mysteriously becoming unblocked #istandwithphil

Anyway, the network caved and reinstated the series - the huge viewing figures hardly had anything to do with it?

Please don't shoot the messenger, guys - I don't want to get into this any deeper.

It was funny when I started watching it first, but I'm sick of it now. Religious freaks and the whole family is totally brainwashed.

It's a good laugh all the same.
What station is it on now etc

    I get it on ITV4.

The suspension was only in the US.

I think it's the US version of Killinascully, but with real characters.

I wonder was it a massive publicity stunt. I haven't heard of a tv network renewing a show after cancelling it. Particularly considering why it was cancelled. It will be interesting to see what advertisers will cancel now due to reasons the show was cancelled

I think its a good show but they don't do enough shooting in it... I might not have the same views as Phil where religion and sexuality is concerned but at the end of the day the remote does have an OFF button !

Itv4 is still in its first season afaik. Watch it on history channel if you have it. Always playing episodes from all seasons.
I heard of Phil being basically told off over his comments but that's his beliefs and I can't see the problem with it.
Really hope he's not gone. He's great to listen to especially when it comes to miss kay

The problem with his comments is that they were inciting hate, no matter what his beliefs are he should keep them to himself, including his religious horse ****e.

Now less of the Phil worshiping and get on with your life.

Phil is god!!! :) ( I'm sure someone has that on twitter or some ****e)
Yeah he should've kept it to himself but sure what's done is done.
He was already warned for using Jesus name in his dinner prayers as it's offensive to his Muslim fans?
Somehow I don't think there'd be that many.

Was passing a crib in a shopping center just before christmas, there was a muslim woman looking at the crib and rolling her eyes to heaven in disapproval.

I felt like going over to her an giving her a boot up the burkha. She probably doesn't watch Duck Dynasty either.

I also find the timing very curious. And shaaazam! They've already patched it up and everybody is ok now. GQ, A&E channel and the Robertsons all win, wow that was quick. I guess 9 million viewers and $400 million in sales has that charming effect on folks.

Frankly Phil reflected what many in the US believe, but he said it in a pretty rough manner. But hey, when you hire over the top people to be on a so called "reality show", or if you watch reality shows, don't be surprized when they do over the top stuff (on and off the show). It is what they are about.

Unless there are lots of toys and neat stuff, like guns or historic items, I tend not to watch and not to care.

Weeks back I watched about 5 minutes of a Duck program, thinking it was about hunting and it was clear that it was s#1te of the lowest kind, filmed about and aimed at the intellectually challenged.

As for the above posts, I have reported them as being offensive and off topic. Religion has nothing to do with hunting and neither could I be ar$ed with a debate with either of you on a topic you appear to know nothing about.

Also, you should learn a little about Islam before you compose and post the nonsense above. Muslims have no issues with Jesus or using his name (they believe that Jesus was a very important prophet but less important than Mohammed). They also believe in Mary as his mother and in the virgin birth. However, they don’t have the manger legend, believing that Mary gave birth to Jesus not in a stable but underneath a date palm and the tree provided sustenance for her during labour and birth. Notice any similarities?

Lets keep the heads here lads.

Nothing wrong with a little "off forum" discussion. Just keep it to a minimum. The thread is about Duck Dynasty. Also argue the point and don't attack the poster. Meaning if you don't agree, then don't resort to name calling or insults.

If you have an issue use the report post button and let a mod deal with it.

That comment is unwarranted as it is totally divorced from the topic of Hunting and from this thread. It is a religious/racial slur and as such is offensive and against the rules of Boards, regardless of what any Mod says about

It also is a highly unlikely as I explained above that any Muslim would – for religious reasons - roll eyes at a crib. Even if one did as you assert you could not see it were she wearing a burqa, so your comment is baseless. Go look it up, inform yourself.
Or you just out to look like a good doer?
I assume you mean a ‘do-gooder’? I worked in London when IRA bombs were going off and saw and felt the ignorance of idiots who made sweeping ill-informed anti-Irish remarks, just as the same type now make ill-informed sweeping comments on Islam. I also have worked in the Middle East and North Africa and have gone shooting with hunters who happen to be Muslim. My first stalk with a rifle was guided by a good friend who happens to be both North African and a Muslim. He and his mates are far nicer people and with much more interesting things to say than a lot of the recent crap posted on this board. That’s all.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2530205/Duck-Dynasty-resume-filming-Phil-Robertson-A-E-reverses-suspension-anti-gay-comments-just-week.html

This is probably the most comprehensive article on the subject I've read to date.

    My ten cents are:

Opposing views on politics and religion are hard enough to discuss with friends let alone strangers.

Most of us conform to social norms and very rarely speak what we actually think. Those who do are called radicals or activists depending on your view point.

America puts out very confusing messages referring to 'freedom of speech' and protection of the minorities. Today we see very sanititised versions of both the left and right wings who after a run through the PR mill would apease the mainstream public aswell as the federal laws.

The Politicaly Correct stance through out the world whether political or religious orientated, is gone mad and no matter what way you turn you'll step on someones toes.

From the little life experience I have, I've come to this conclusion, if you scratch the surface of most ideologies whether political or religious you will find something offensive or disagreeable to some.

Anyhow enough of my ramblings, all I really know is life would be a lot more boring with out heated discussions and the likes of Phil, no matter his or your beliefs.

MOD: Drop the religious/social commentary now. Next time it happens will receive infractions. You can discuss the show, as it pertains to hunting and shooting. Any commentary on what you may or may not have seen people of a given religious position do in Ireland or how you feel about certain religions can be taken to their respective fora here on Boards.ie, but it won't be happening in the Shooting forum or any sub-forum of it. Similarly, any questioning of or commentary on moderator actions or statements can be taken to PM or Helpdesk. If it appears on thread again there will be sanctions. Any debate on freedom of speech and its merits or otherwise can be taken just about anywhere else. It's certainly not a shooting topic.

I think enough has been said.

Some people are hypersensitive in my experience.

Mod can you close this thread up?
