I had a charge on December 20th of an 'unpaid fee 20 Dec' for 12.70. What is this?

    Hi Garrigai

    Thank you for your post.

An unpaid charge of E12.70 will relate to insufficient funds in your account at the time a payment was trying to debit. This payment may have been a Standing Order or a Direct Debit that was due or a cheque trying to present on your account.

As we have no account access here, it is not possible for us to provide you with more precise information in relation to the unpaid charge. However, you may contact your branch by phone, a representative can provide you with further details.

Please see contact details for your branch here

If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

    Thanks
    Alison

So BOI is charging me €12.70 as someone tried to process a payment and there wasn't enough in my account?

    Hi Garrigai,

If you have set up a direct debit or standing order or have written a cheque and the item has presented when there is insufficient funds in the account, the unpaid fee of €12.70 is applied. As mentioned above, you'll need to call your branch for clarification on the particular item presented to your account. We don't have access to account details here.

    Thanks
    Tara

How come this never happened before? Who does this charge go to?

    Hi Garrigai,

    Thanks for posting.

You will only see an Unpaid Fee on your account, if there were insufficient funds to meet a transaction.

The Unpaid Fee is a bank fee.

Details of this can be found in our Schedule of Fees and Charges brochure here

    Thanks

    Billy
