Sky start up date

    Hi recently we moved to sky for our broadband and was given today 27 dec as our start date, problem is the router is just displaying an amber internet light all day and won't connect. Sky say in there booklet that it could go live at anytime up to 12 tonight but I'm just wondering if there are any reported problems today in the southeast due to the weather?

    Check the news man, 8000 faults reported to eircom in the south west and north.

    That said, your problem sounds like no authentication. Its probably waiting to be jumpered in the exchange. Get onto sky tech support and get them to check if thats been done yet.

    Rang sky this morning and it seems as usual sky will say anything to get a sale! Was told that if we didn't have it by Christmas Day we would have it in the next day or so after it and sure enough the letter said due for activation on the 27 th, but today I was told to disregard the letter it wouldn't be activated until the 31th !

    Just to update this for anyone thinking of getting sky broadband in we still have no internet in our house! Having been told we will defenatly go live on the 31st there was obviously no one to answer our call on the first so on the second we were told that we will have it in the next three working days, rang them again yesterday to basically be told they didn't know when it would go on and there was no point in ringing because it will go on when it goes on.
    I'm absolutely furious!! Never before have I had such difficulty with a company and it's cost me €31 in phone calls so far.
