It allows you hook up a USB device to your tablet. USB memory stick, USB mobile broadband modem, USB joypad etc.

I would have only one of those above, but could i use it for a usb charger in a cigarette lighter, it says it needs a cable, would this do?

No, you need male USB to micro USB.

I'm pretty sure printing is possible from an Android device. Not sure what the story with drivers are but there seems to be apps and the like to facilitate that.

LG G-Pad Google play version. I haven't rooted it yet but I'd say I'll need to to get this to work. I have plex running on it so I'm not that worried.

Generally you need to root your device or pay for an app to use these (with Android, anyway).

My cable and mouse both arrived this morning! Cable working fine with an Xbox controller out of the box on my Moto G 4.4, will try USB later.
