Do you buy your male friends Christmas presents?

I never have and none of my other 5 close friends have either. However, I have heard of other males buying presents for their male friends. I think that's a bit weird.

Is a pint considered a present?

    If so then yes.

No, not even once as a joke.

This is not an option though because they'll buy you one back thus cancelling it out.

Actually come to think of it a few of us chipped in for a dildo for one of the lad's 18th birthday as a joke, kind of. We half heartedly thought he was gay at the time.

He didn't buy us anything for our birthdays though. The bastard.

I used to buy them CDs when were in and just out of school and they'd get me the same. I'm still close to the group and we no longer exchange anything, we buy each other pints on occasions like Christmas or Birthdays.

Isn't that how exchanging presents works though? :D

Only for my best friend, as we've known each other since birth. Everyone else I don't see at Christmas, it's like to be passed the new year before I see any of my other friends.

Always pints. But if in a group of blokes and girls, as well as pints we do buy each other some weird pisstake pressie. Once a mate got a blowup doll :) If buying a mate a pressie as part of a couple(us), it has to be a card and a pressie. If just among blokes yes its pints and the odd pressie as described :)

Blokes? Hah, I think bad of buying stuff for my kids. "A sticks not a real gift"..phah, whiners.

My two best friends and I exchange gifts each year. One of them is a guy. Why on earth would that matter?

Used to get my close mates presents when we were younger but it kinda petered out when we got older.

I buy presents for close friends regardless of gender. So what's the problem if I buy someone video games or one4all vouchers? Unless you're giving them foot massages as presents, I don't see what all the fuss is about.

A friend made it awkward last night , giving us presents and we didn't get him anything or anyone else anything.

Don't buy any of my friends presents, they don't buy me any and that's the way I like it.

Nobody has the money and the less time shopping the better as far as I'm concerned.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    No.

Nope never have. These Lads would resent having to buy gifts for their family, let alone friends! I would be more inclined to do it, but then I just think the only thing they would give me in return would be a confused look, so I wouldnt bother. Maybe they are the same and it's all just a vicious cycle!

Nope, glad my group aren't the only ones like this! Although my friends didn't even wish my happy christmas

I just don't buy anybody presents, my wife takes care of all that stuff, I never know what to get her so she buys herself something as my present to her, and then she knows all my mates so she buys them presents.

I'd feel weird getting presents from my mates tbh.

Same -I was there earlier and the missus goes -"and this is to you from Nuucks little Billy" and Billy goes "wow uncle Nucking, what is it??"

I was quietly smiling while the inner voice was going - " how the feck would I know - unwrap the damn thing and put us both out of our suspense.."

I did this year yeah, because they got together and gave me a flight to Berlin for my 21st earlier in the year. No problem with Christmas gifts - I only get stuff for a small group of friends and nothing expensive.

When it comes to the lads, our gift to eachother is that no presents are expected or required.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,062 ✭✭✭AirBiscuit

One of my housemates got me a game on Steam, so I bought one back. Other than that, nope

I have some very good mates, so I don't want to risk losing any of them by giving them presents.
