Couldn't start tractor this morning , full battery, ignition lights came on with the key, but nothing at all from the starter motor when I turned the other switch. The headlights worked when I turned the key more which is normal.
Later the headlights would not work or the wiper, but the ignition warning lights on dash came on fine. Does this sound like voltage going to ignition switch but not comming out? A ignition switch/ relay fault? All the fuses under dash are o.k. I will try and test starter motor tomo.

Start out by testing/substituting the battery and work from there. If you cross the terminals on the starter and she turns, it's the starter solenoid, if it doesn't, it's the armature. Also look for wires off to the starter/ignition, loose connections, then bad ignition switch etc. I'm guessing your battery is flocked tho..

That was one of them Massive Ergusons.

Did you crack an injector and see if there's diesel getting up there OP? And if you're towing it, do the wheels lock up when you let the clutch in? It's not seized is it?

what make & model of tractor is it ? some have their own peculiarities that a previous owner might recognize. Once had problem with safety switch that prevents starting outside of neutral, also with wiring connected to back of dash. a cracked wire or corrosion can cause multiple problems so don't replace any parts until you can point at something and say that's the problem.does it have an electrical stopper?

oops. see post above. :) try turning it on the crank pulley bolt, if no go then whip off the starter and see if it has jammed on..or else it's possibly seized...
