BigDishGo welcome back Mark Archer from Altern8 for their final party of the year and what will hopefully be a celebration of No.1 chart success for Activ8.

A facebook campaign was launched earlier this year to gatecrash the Christmas charts with Altern8’s classic old-skool anthem Activ8 and knock off any X Factor contenders and we really hope they do the business.

Altern8 were a UK rave duo, active in the early 90's. Known for dressing up in green chemical warfare suits & dust masks, they had a string of hits in the UK charts and are viewed as one of the most influential and successful rave acts ever - alongside the likes of The Prodigy, KLF, and 808 State. Founding members Mark Archer and Chris Peat had been writing techno together as Nexus 21, C&M Connection, and various other monikers, when they started Altern 8 up as a side project. After being booked to play a venue just one week after a Nexus 21 gig, they decided to wear the RAF hazmat suits (borrowed from Mark's brother) so they wouldn't appear to be the same people!

Their biggest hit - Activ-8 (Come With Me) - was a huge chart success, and had it not been released the same week as two of the year’s biggest selling other songs (Michael Jackson's "Black or White" and The Wonderstuff's "Dizzy" with Vic Reeves) would have likely grabbed the pair a UK number one hit. Activ-8 got to number 3, with fellow Stafford based rave act Bizarre Inc. (who Mark Archer had also previously worked with) at number 4 - a great week for UK rave! The pair performed on Top of the Pops, while the official music video famously contained footage of Altern 8 playing live at a rave in the car park of Stoke-on-Trent nightclub 'Shelleys'.

Altern8 also built up a reputation for elaborate media pranks - including standing in a local election - with their campaign message blasting over the speakers of an armoured vehicle, driving around the streets of Stafford, and giving away Altern8 Xmas puddings marked "The poor know the score"
