Do I really need both a android phone and a tablet?

Im thinking of upgrading my old phone Vodafone smart II to a Samsung S3 mini even though I prefer the shape of S4 mini bot not the price.
Im liking the LG Gpad pad, not as heavy to hold the Samsung tab.
Is it a good idea or bad idea to have both.
I have seen a few LG Gpad 8.3 going 2nd hand on adverts even though its only a few months old why that?
Could I do fine with just the S3 mini or would I better with the S4 mini and no need tablet?
    Confused
    Thanks in advance. :)

I was asking myself the same thing a few months ago, I got the note 3. It's the best phone I've ever used and no need for a tablet.

I have both, a Motorola Moto G phone and a Google Nexus 7.2 Tablet.
If you have a decent phone with a decent sized screen i don't think you really need both.
But i do find i watch the films and TV episodes on the table i use the phone for most other things.
I think thats why you see a lot of "nearly New" & "Hardly Used" Tables for sale on Adverts.

    Different horses for different courses.

What do you intend on using the device for and where will you be using it?

You can use a butter knife to remove a screw but a screwdriver would be better (unless you're looking for something to prepare toast).

I use a Nexus 10 when browsing or viewing media when sitting at home on the sofa. For use out and about, reading ebooks or when I need something pocketable I'll use
a Nexus 7. A smartphone with a 4.7 inch screen suits me for checking mail/twitter/boards. I can see how a smartphone with a large screen like the Note could combine the need for a phone and a 7 inch tablet but i don't think I'd do without a 10 tablet for watching movies/TV shows.

Plenty of people find iphones ideal for browsing, I hate using the iPhone 5 for browsing/media as I find the screen too small and will only use mine for checking work mail.

You answered my question before I could even pose it!!

I have an s3 and a broken ipad2 (could not be bothered getting it repaired with kids) due an up grand in April, was going to ask would the note 3 replace both my iPad and s3 but you already answered for me!!!

    Thanks!

I had the s3 before the Note aswell, a massive improvement. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

    Got it in one.

I use the phone when I am out and about, the tablet (Samsung Note 10.1) when I am in work/on the couch/studying/traveling.

I had the 2012 Nexus 7 and I currently have a 2013 Nexus 7 along with a Nexus S phone and soon a Moto G, I love my tablet and use it daily, it's great to have both and well worth it if you invest right.

Considering I absolutely love my S3 (keeping it for damn sure!!) I can't wait to get the note!!

Your not the first to say that either

I wouldn't be without both. I have a htc one and an iPad 2.

Seriously thinking of selling the iPad to pay for a new Nexus 7. I like the smaller form factor.

    I had a Note 2 and Nexus 7....found i rarely used the 7.

Now have a Note 3....sold the Nexus 7 and got a Note 10. This, for me, is the perfect combination.

N7 is a great size and the device I find I use the most. I could justify upgrading from last year's to this years model as I knew I'd continue to use it plenty. So easy to stick in a jacket pocket - unlike the iPad/nexus 10.

This I think is a great idea. If I was thinking of buying both I would look at this.

Put me down as one of those that had both (a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 7) and then after I got the Note 3 ended up just giving away the Nexus 7 to the missus as I found myself never using the thing.

A part of me is tempted to get a Nexus 10 just to watch stuff in bed or something like that, but can't really justify it...

Have an S4 and a Note 2014. Love the battery on my tablet, it's unreal compared to my phone. But would recommend both if your looking to a media / office platform, find spread sheeting on my phone annoying.
