Had a gimp of a 20 month old bullock for the last few months that was just not triving. We tried numerous stuff with him but about 2 weeks ago I got the vet to do a blood test. It cost me 70 quid and now that I know he has BVD another 90 to have him shot and fu•ked away.

Can you send a blood sample away yourself to a lab, or does it have to be through a Vet?

Thanks Hugo. I'm assuming that's just for BVD. I'm talking about taking a blood sample and testing for a range of conditions/viruses.

If you do the blood sample yourself you're still going to need a vet to interpret the results for you.

You can take a blood sample and send it off if you know a lab.
First though it looks easy when the vet takes blood but unless you've done it before its not that easy.
Secondly how much will you actually save it.The lab will charge a fair bit of the 90 to analyse the sample.

Another thing is the bullock PI with bvd. I think you can factory him and maybe get something rather than sending him to the knackery
