OK boardsies you're gonna have to cut me some slack here, I know theres a bowling forum but its pretty dead and I need an answer ASAP. And it is xmas afterall.... we help each other out... dont we? :D

But seriously, I know I really left this till the last minute but I didn't think it would be such a hard thing to get. Im looking for a set of bowling pins.

Actual decent ones, the ones that have wood inside and a plastic coating on the outside. Ive tried a few sports shops thinking Id pick them up anywhere, but all anyone seems to stock is the cheap hollow plastic ones.

Can anyone help me out at all :)

Have you approached any of the bowling alleys for a used set? They must be pretty well made to put up with the abuse that they do,

Im going to a bowling alley tomorrow to find out who their supplier is, or even have they a spare unused set they'd consider selling me.

Its a present for a close family member so I cant really give him anything used. But thanks for the suggestion :)

Tesco do rolling pins for €9.99. Nail them to some wooden coasters and away you go.

My brother is in the middle of building a bowling alley/shed in his back garden so....... it wont be ready for another good few months, but I figured it would still be a good present all the same.

It'd we worth checking with people who supply pool tables as well, they'd point you in the right direction anyways.

Really? I never would have thought that. Coincidentally not even a week ago a friend of mine who owns a pub was approached by a group selling pool/snooker tables. Fingers crossed he still has the business card.

Fair play to you... big ask this close to Christmas though. Check them out online & print out the few options wrap them up stick them in with a euro store set(for the craic). let him pick out the ones he wants then tell him they will be on the table next week.

This is going to be a modern day folly you know. The locals will be pointed at him on the street and laughing. As the previous poster suggested just buy him a dart board from argos. Sorted. ;-)

Fair plays I'm only messing. It's just that I have heard a lot of ideas people had for their garage or shed or whatever. Mostly gyms (never used), darts (used when pissed), pool table (used when pissed) etc.

I have never heard of anyone making their own personal bowling lane. Brilliant. I think that would be class tbh if he pulls it off.

I can only imagine that doing one properly (not just a homemade concrete floor) would be very costly.

Anyways imagine the reaction at a party in his house. "Anyone fancy a game if bowls" class lol
