    RIP

One of the great voices of Sport, and I particularly enjoyed his Athletics work. He had great enthusiasm and authority and I will always associate many great Sporting Moments with his commentaries.

RIP David. One of the few remaining links to a very different age for sports presentation on the BBC. :(

Here are some of his verbal gaffes:

I see there is a tribute programme to David Coleman on BBC1 next Wednesday, it is followed by a classic episode of A Question of Sport

    BBC1 NI

11.35pm The Quite Remarkable David Coleman
Documentary highlighting the career of David Coleman, who died in December at the age of 87, shown to coincide with a memorial service earlier today for the veteran sports broadcaster. The programme examines his varied roles as a presenter, commentator, interviewer and quiz show host, and takes a light-hearted look at some of his most famous on-air gaffes, which became affectionately known as Colemanballs. Includes contributions by Michael Parkinson, Linford Christie, Daley Thompson, Huw Edwards, Ian Botham, Sebastian Coe, Bobby Charlton and Princess Anne

    12.35am A Question of Sport
Archive edition of the sports quiz from 1987, hosted by David Coleman, with Bill Beaumont and Emlyn Hughes captaining the teams. The panel of guests on this occasion were Formula One driver Nigel Mansell, rugby union star John Rutherford, sprinter Linford Christie and Princess Anne
