[No idea if this is the appropriate sub-forum to post in. Is this where all the computer scientists hang out? :P]

Hi all. 2nd year science student here.

I have to pick 2 subjects going into 3rd year. I've already decided that one of them will be computer science. I want to have a maths subject alongside it, but can't decide between pure maths, applied maths, and statistics. In fourth year, I can continue with one or both subjects.

I'm leaning towards pure maths at the moment, because I want to have alternatives in case a job in computer science doesn't suit me, and I've gotten the impression online that pure is more transferable. Anyone care to convince me otherwise? Which subject do you think would be most helpful in a computer science job?

You can see my course structure here. Click into the "Year 3" tab and you can find a list of modules for each subject. I don't know if this might help you advise me.

Would appreciate some perspective on this. Thanks! smile.png
