It could be Twister’s turn again with Kaylif Aramis

The Twiston-Davies family dominated the big races at Cheltenham last weekend and it could be worth backing Kaylif Aramis to continue their good run in the Ladbroke Hurdle (3.35) at Ascot.
Under normal circumstances a couple of the Flat-bred types could have been expected to have a bit too much speed for Kaylif Aramis, but if the weather forecasters are right the ground is likely to be somewhere near heavy come off time.
Therefore, speed will be less of an issue than is usually the case and proven stamina will be important – and that’s where Kaylif Aramis comes in.
Of course, a slow horse will be taken out of his comfort zone in a good race whatever the ground and at the start of the season Kaylif Aramis looked anything but a Ladbroke contender, but he has shown a good deal of zip on both his recent starts.
On his comeback at Chepstow he looked like winning until making a mess of the second last, while last time in a decent heat at Cheltenham he was moving into contention and still on the bridle when crashing out two from home.
He will have to step up again in this better field, but the drop in trip on testing ground could be the making of him and, with his stable in flying form, Kaylif Aramis should run well.
Nicky Henderson has a couple of live darts to throw and, on the likely ground, Chatterbox is preferred, but he’s been well enough found in the market now. Similar sentiments apply to Totalize, while City Slicker looks to have loads to prove, so the other two who have grabbed my attention are Dell’ Arca and bottom weight Willow’s Saviour.
Dell’ Arca is up a few pounds in the handicap, but the Greatwood was seriously competitive and that was only his fourth run over hurdles and first for David Pipe, so there could be plenty more to come.
Testing ground should not be an issue and there is simply no reason for him not to run another he belter.
Having said that, Willow’s Saviour has been really impressive since joining Dan Skelton and looks to be improving fast. A strongly run 2m looks perfect for him and I think he will relish the testing ground, so he gets the vote as the second bet at 16-1.
There is rain forecast at Haydock, too, and there aren’t many horses in the line-up who will handle the expected testing conditions.
Emperor’s Choice wont have an issue after winning twice in bottomless ground last season, and he shaped okay on his comeback in the Southern National, so it is easy to see why he heads the market.
However, it will be a case of last man standing if the ground gets as bad as it can at Haydock, so Wicklow Lad becomes interesting at 16-1.
He stays all day, had some decent form in Ireland off much higher marks, and caught the eye for new connections last time with a strong finish over 2m4f at Carlisle.
Provided his amateur jockey doesn’t get him out of his rhythm early, I expect him to be finishing off the race best of all.

    Today's bets

    Wicklow Lad
    2.05 Haydock
1pt win at 16-1 with Ladbrokes
    (14-1 with bet365)

    Kaylif Aramis
    3.35 Ascot
    1pt win at 20-1 generally

    Willow’s Saviour
    3.35 Ascot
    1pt win at 16-1 generally

Great win.. Got him at 12/1 25 ew.. Was very close to sticking 50 ew.. But was a bit freaked by the heavy going... Happy days all the same.. Nice for Dan Skelton. A man to watch for the Future.. Loved this horse after his win last time out in Ascot..
