Hey chums, basically my PS3 froze. It wouldn't turn off with the controller, so I pulled the power out. Now I got no display on the screen, no controller connection, and I seemingly can't access recovery mode . Is it bolloxed?

Read the sticky about repairs and it would be helpful for the light sequence on the unit.

Ok think I got it. I left it half an hour, it switched back on. Then it froze again. Then I looked and realized the fans were really really dirty and the fact it wS crazy hot :P

Ok so Hoover out all the vents with the unit switched off.

Sounds like still an issue TBH.

What colour lights flash on the unit when this happens?

It just goes green. Then it doesn't switch off unless you hold the power button down.

No I think its packed it in to be honest. Had a good few years so.

So it is RED, then you press the power button, it starts up and stays GREEN?

Turned off it's red. Turn it on it's green. Then it freezes, can't be switched off properly. Have to hold the power button down to turn it off. Goes from green to red .

Doesn't sound like a YLOD, could be anything I'm afraid. Could be the hard drive. The lights normally tell you more.

Just be careful where you leave it in to be "repaired"

Didn't bother in the end, sold it as faulty./
