I drove passed that today on the south bound side about 4 o clock .
There was at least 3 cars involved and its no joke.
Less than 500 meters north of that a golf had spun out, crossed the hard shoulder hit the crash barrier and landed on edge of the outside lane.
A wet motorway changed to slush for maybe a mile thats all it took.
I was pulling a few ton of timber in a trailer and had no idea how bad the road had got until I got to the golf.
I got on that motorway at Gort , driving conditions were bad, wet road, low temp, black sky, heavy sleet every 5 minutes and strong gusts of wind.

Drive to the conditions lads forget the speed limit and use the head.
I hope nobody is badly hurt

Was in Toronto early Jan this year, and they'd got the first snow in a few weeks. Plenty of accidents and traffic driving too fast - local guy said even there it takes a day or two before people catch on again! Was similarly patchy as it was "Lake Winds" snow, weird pockets of snow and fine weather around the city and on the highways.

I think the message is to drive extra carefully ourselves, as it's probably expecting a bit much for Irish motorists to suddenly be perfect the minute there's winter weather. So more than just the weather and your own driving, you've other motorists to worry about too.
