Repairing scratches on bike frame

Hi lads, Im looking for advice on repairing a few scratches and chips on my bike frame.
There appears to be several layers of lacquer over the paintwork but the scratches/chips have not penetrated through to the paintwork so it's the lacquer Id like to repair cos when up close it looks sh!te.
I've read about clear nail varnish doing the trick so would welcome advice on that or possibly a link to where I could get a small amount of lacquer to touch it up, but keep in mind I still try to get out twice a week in this weather so Im not sure if nail varnish would be tough enough for our irish weather.

I've just bought a new 105 groupset, tyres, and handlebars so would like to sort these scratches before I start the overhaul.
    Advice greatly appreciated :)

I'm not a cyclist myself (well not yet anyway :D) but I've used lacquer on my car and have seen it available in car shops called the clear coat - your local motor factors would have some and you'd also be able to talk to someone there about how many coats you'd need to apply

Your always gonna get chips and scratches fella. Trying to touch it up unless you are very handy with a rattle can could end up looking a lot worse as different aerosols can often react badly with paint in my experience. Bike frames are sprayed using several coats of paint and lacquer and usually oven baked to give it that smooth finish, 'touching up' would involve sanding or keying the old finish in order to hold the new lacquer, could even involve wet sanding and polishing to blend the finish,
Sher no one will see it when yer cycling ;)

I have used car paint from halfords in the past. Very small brush, but only to fix deep stone chips. You are going to get chips as part of wear and tear.

Not too worried about how the chips look but Id like to seal up the lacquer to prevent any rust appearing so I think I'll try the nail varnish when I get a chance.
    Thanks lads
