I watched the '07 RWC semi Fra v Eng in the Marais district of Paris. Thought the atmosphere was pretty decent. My 2c if it helps you.

Think they go on general sale on the french website so anyone can purchase. That may happened already though. Was at the postponed game two years ago and tickets seemed easy enough to come by, maybe higher demand in the new Schmidt era though.

Thanks for the feedback thought it was worth a shot..always hard when you go abroad to the games to gauge where the crowd goes and source the craic :-) ! I got my tickets with premier tickets and thought they were very good 80 euro I think

Paris isn't a great city for post match celebrations, the city is so big that the crowd really disperses. It's not like Cardiff or Edinburgh where the fun is fairly centralised. Once you get on the metro from Stade de France you can go in pretty much any direction and people do.

I usually stay in the Latin Quarter near Luxembourg RER as it's really handy for the RER from Charles de Gaulle and to SdF. It's also nicely central.

I was thinking that it would be hard to source the post match celebrations alright in Paris so said we try work our accommodation around it .
Is there any good Irish pubs? Its a pity coz it really is so much easier to plan and gauge what ur doing in other cities like u said in Cardiff an Edinburgh

True that you need to know where to go to enjoy your post match celebration.

Yes. That's a safe bet. It's one (if not the) best part of Paris. Not as famous as the "poshy-trendy" upmarket 16th and 8th arrondissement but more lively since it's reknown as the students quarter of Paris ;).

I'm not a parisian but I know a great place in Montparnasse to enjoy a good rugby atmosphere. Ir's in the 15th arrondissement, 18 Boulevard Pasteur, Metro station "Pasteur". The place is called "Au Metro". Be careful though I think they're plenty of bars-restaurants called like that in Paris. With the address you can't be wrong anyway. It's 5 min from the Montparnasse tower.

Oh and the food is just sublime. The owners are from the Pyrenean South West of France and cook some speciality from there, notably duck. It's not huge so I think you have to book.

You also can get there early for lunch or early dinner, go to the stadium and come back for the after match. it's opened 'till late in the morning ;).

    => http://www.aumetro.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

I also heard about this place but never been to => http://www.le-rugby.fr/
There are several places in the 6th arrondissement. Went once to the Frogs & Princess. Friendly anglo-french atmosphere with good beers but it's an english pub. Maybe not what you're searching for.

If you understand a bit French (at least reading it) I suggest you have a look at this blog => http://www.pariszigzag.fr/bars-cafes-terrasses-paris/bars-paris-matchs-foot-rugby. It lists several sport pubs in different areas of Paris with a detailed description and all info about each place.

I went 2 years ago with friends who've been going since 2000. I've never seen Ireland lose in Paris!!!!
We stayed in Luxembourg area too as lads had stayed in area for years. We spent a good bit of time in a Canadiean bar which was good for the other games. Paris is huge and we were in bars that had no idea there was rugby but with a gang of lads you will have good fun anyway.
Staying in Opera this year in cheap and cheerful area. It can be expensive for food and drink but if you have any element of self control you can keep the costs down esp if you go to the locals bars.
    Sent youa pm re tix.

Au Metro has been my local for the past six years and I can vouch for it. One of the finest rugby bars in the city if not the best. Great food and atmosphere on match days be it France or Stade Francais. Post-match nights can be electric and great fun. It's about 45 minutes from Stade de France: take line 6 to Denfert and change to RER B to Stade.

On the other hand, if you're looking for genuine Paris night life, i.e. non rugby and affordable, I suggest either Canal St Martin area in the 11ème or the Strasbourg-St Denis/Bonne Nouvelle areas in the 10ème.
