Electrical Problem - 2007 Renault Trafic

Hi all, hoping someone can point me in the right direction here.

Battery flat in my van a couple weeks ago and my dad tried to jump start it with car. He connected the jump leads wrong way round due to wrong colouring on leads on car (long story, dont ask).

End result is now that on my van I have no wipers, windows, reversing lights, handsfree, or radio (unless i press on button - should come on with ignition).

Two fuses were blown, one for the wipers (15a) and one on the battery (500w)
New fuses were fitted, but turning key blows the 15a one for the wipers.

My reckoning is that there is a problem somewhere with the circuit to the ignition and/or wipers, as it's only functions that have to have key in and turned to operate that aren't working. (Lights ok etc.)

Any ideas as to cause or solution lads?

    Thanks, Al.

Sounds like you need a good auto electrician to troubleshoot that issue.

Maybe try disconnecting your wiper motor and replace the fuse then turn on the ignition.

The problem here is the twix wrappers carrying the current to the rice crispy square has shorted out in turn the wipers wont work as the chewing gum metal wrappings has burned out due to the heineken cans carrying current to the starter.
    Or else serious ecu problem.

There was a guy agreed to call to see me the week between christmas and new year, but kept dicking around - eventually told him to whistle during the week.

I have another fella coming out to look at it Monday evening.

Pull the relays and replace one at a time untill something blows.
Renault and electrics are not a good marriage at the best of times

Yeah, she's back on the road. An Opel-mechanic friend of the family had it sorted out in about 7 or 8 hours over a few nights.

Turns out what happened was apparently two wires going to rear of van had melted together, and they've been replaced, along with 4 or 5 new fuses, and two new relays.

OK that's great to hear. Iv had my 15a fuse blows about 5times in two weeks and everytimr it takes out my wipers and electric windows. Do you by any chance know exactly those wires were that melted together so I can have a look at mine?

I would imagine that it would be more important first to know why the wires fused together. Migh be the relays.
