Can you call a girl while you're away or is it a turnoff?

Ok, so I'm studying abroad now and want to ask this girl back home if she'd like to meet up again.

She knows I've been away, which makes me worried because I don't want her to think I'm desperate. I'll be back on Sunday, but I'm worried that could be too late and she might have made plans.

We went out a few times before I left, so it's not my first time.

Call her. Worst that can happen is she'll say no.

Though, I suppose it depends on how you left things before whether you look desperate or just interested.

    Ok I'll call her.

I don't know what times she's in work, so if she doesn't get back to me, is it ok if I send a Facebook message saying something along the lines of "can you call me back. I wanted to ask you something, but prefer not to do it here?" and give her the dialling code for the country I'm in?

Even though I've asked her out before over the phone I still prefer that to text/Facebook and want to avoid this at all costs.

I would EITHER call or facebook msg and ask her out. Don't use both and don't mess around with cryptic facebook messages. Just call, if she doesn't answer leave a quick voicemail.

Yes to the phone, no to facebook/text. You're right. Avoid that at all costs - that's the part that looks desperate. If she doesn't answer or get back to your call straight away, preserve your dignity and call her again tomorrow/next day. But that's only my opinion, and I really hate facebook as a medium for social contact. Why so desperate though? If she's made plans, what's the massive big deal?!

Thanks to all for the advice.

I will call and leave a voicemail if she can't answer.

Well I called today, no Facebook messages, no text messages.

She said she's up for it once again, just needs to get her work roster.

Thanks all, once again, for the advice :)!!
