Lost Driving License

Hi

I lost my driving license at the weekend. Just wondering does anyone know what the process is for getting a new or a replacement? I know the process for obtaining a new license has changed recently so I am not sure of that the process now for getting a replacement.

I have a photocopy of my original license so I can provide the license number, give my ID etc. How long does it take to get a replacement, do they post it out to your home address?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

You have to apply in person and wait... about 8 weeks .

you need to fill out the new application form and get it stamped by the cops as its a lost licence and AFAIK the fee to replace it is €35,the ndls centre will take your photo and signature now also,no more passport photos allowed

OK, thanks!! 8 weeks is a long wait, is there any temporary license you can get while you wait for the license to come?

nope,i think they give you a slip with your licence number to say you've applied thats what happened me.

so you can't drive until you get the license?

i drove on without it,had no choice but the letter of the law states you must carry it with you,but cops are a bit lenient if you are waiting to receive it i'd imagine
