Scoliosis and a buprenorphine painkiller v marijuana?

Hi, I've been diagnosed with scoliosis (my lower spine is curving a little) and I'm on solpadol and also a diclofenac spray gel called Difene (had been on diclofenac tablets) I also have a hiatus hernia and GERD so oral painkillers etc aren't so good for me. I'm allergic to tramadol (ixprim) so can't take that. Have been referred for physio (med card holder, I'm on a disability payment for another issue - I also study for a degree by distance out of my own pocket, don't want to stay on DA forever) Solpadol worked REALLY well at first, get almost no relief from it now unless I double dose and even then very limited relief. Have been taking it for 7 or 8 months (500/30mg)

Have been given a prescription for buprenorphine patches called "BuTrans" (buprenorphine is related/similar to morphine) Haven't gotten it, was told to only get it if I really, really need it - but I think any day now I will simply have to get the bloody stuff. I don't want to start using morphine related meds but may have no alternative. Aside from simply using BuTrans what worries me is coming off it at some stage, read it can be hell coming off morphine related meds. Doctor told me they'd normally move someone from solpadol to tramadol (ixprim) and not just onto a morphine related med but I can't as I'm allergic to tramadol. Thing is I suffer from depression on and off and can get quite nasty mood swings etc, (could explain but it would sidetrack and take too long), heard withdrawal symptoms from morphine related meds can include depression and that's the last thing I need.

Was thinking f it, I'll try some marijuana instead, have tried it a few times over the years, parties or what have you - never bought any. Would trying marijuana be better for me and save me a world of pain later on? Could marijuana provide the same or similar relief that morphine related meds could? It's fast coming down to a morphine related med with all it's potential side effects or marijuana. Advice appreciated. Thanks.
