    Thanks for your advice.

But how do I go about selling my Vodafone shares?

Do I need to contact a broker.

Sorry for my naivety in these matters.

I'm wondering what's best to do with regards to getting a share certificate for the new Vodafone shares as opposed to having the shares put into a Vodafone share account.
    Cheers

There is an option (Section 3) on the 'Form of Election' that allows you to receive a Share Certificate rather than having them held in the Computershare VSA

    Kevo81 wrote: »
Is it possible to consolidate all these shares in to one account and then sell them off or is that too complicated.

Not sure how easy it is to consolidate the shares into one account, the shares would have to transferred at the market value of the shares, and there may be current or future CGT issues. I'd suggest ringing Computershare on this.

Is it possible to sell off the 5 separate share holdings in one transaction or do they have to be sold individually?

It wouldn't be possible to sell them in one transaction (as far as I know), would have to be sold separately with the associated costs for each transaction. Again I'd suggest checking with Computershare on this.

I think VOD are a great company but this deal is less benefit to shareholders, with all the cash they made they really should have coughed up a super dividend to shareholders without the consolidation like Natixis did last year.

We'll have to wait and see I guess if it's a good deal for shareholders or not, my own view is it will be, but..... Obviously having the CGT option is hugely beneficial financially to anybody paying tax at 41% rather than receiving a dividend, you would be getting roughly half of a 'super dividend' into your hand after tax.
    trojan48 wrote: »
Especially as VOD are increasing dividend post deal !!!

I'm not sure what you mean by this, have VOD announced something about a dividend post deal!!!!

By the way I am one of those 'Pesky Brits' you mentioned and certainly did not like the prospect of owning Verizon in its current debt liabilities !!!

Again we'll have to wait and see what happens with Verizon post deal, I expect (hope) both companies will benefit from the divorce, it was pretty obvious from some time back that it was an unhappy marriage. All of us (Vodafone shareholders) are 'Pesky Brits' in Verizon eyes.

Have vodafone shares and was expecting info and documentation from facilators-Computershare. But nothing has arrived. Trying to contact Computershare is impossible by phone or email (Contact is through a UK Co)
Time is running out. Deadline 20th Feb to signify ones intentions.

I know other investors got forms in Dec.
How do I get a response?

They can be a pain to deal with, and the offer is being handled in Bristol Offices. If it becomes critical pay a visit to their offices in Sandyford. They were one of the reasons but ran out of patience with the VF performance which is why I decided to sell all my VF shares this morning. I'll miss VF's good divi, but I've already found a good substitute.

The company has become a joke and doesn't give a monkey about private shareholders.

"sold" my Vodafone shares last week via computershare online. However then received letter saying that need to return certain documentation to receive payment.

Have to sign a crest form, which they have sent me - so that's ok.

But they also want me to enclose valid share certificate - I don't think I have one as I thought I had these held by computershare electronically - anyone know how to check if I have electronic version or share Certs ( surely they would check this first - though it's so long ago maybe I did get Certs - can they be replaced if so?.

Also got 2 prepaid envelopes, one for Ireland and one for Uk! Which one to use!

They don't make it easy! Anyone else sell their shares recently and did you have to go thru same process?

In the process of selling my shares thru Dolmen, spoke with a guy called Daniel he explained the process, emailed all forms including the crest form. Everything done tru the post but yes I had to include all of my share Certs. I didn't receive a dividend tru the years so had opted for more shares. There was a lash of Certs altogether but was missing cert for 5 shares which I just can't find but he told me it would cost more to replace the cert than what the 5 shares are worth.

Also new share Certs were issued in August 2006 ( White cert ) so the older ones are obsolete (pink ish cert).

Couldn't recommend Dolmen enough for the fee of 1.5% the help and advice is worth it , I feel.

Similar experience with Campbell O'Connor in Cope Street Dublin (directly behind Central Bank). Provided me with an excellent service, handed over Certs, signed the crest form and shares were sold sameday. Fee 1.5%.

Professional service always worth paying for - it's a no brainer.

A minor question on this; the pre-paid envelope ("no stamp required") included by Computershare will work from Ireland as well I presume?

I threw out all the docs I got in december as I though it was just a proxy vote option and didn't think there was options for tax etc.
I think I've missed the deadline for the tax option, I logged into computershare but don't see any options to do it online.

I should be able to sell Verizon shares for free (right?) up to April, was this option in the docs too. Can I still do this and will I need to get those letters reissued?

    Thanks
PS: no need to tell me I really should read this stuff, I've just figured that out.

210 shares by the way from Eircom times.

still time, deadline is 20 feb from memory, one of those links earlier on in the thread, Irish Indo I think, had a good article, with a phone number you could call to see if you can get copy documentation somehow

Well, seeing as you are a Miser, it should'nt affect you either way:D:D:D.

But for what its worth, you should opt for the Capital payment.

Is it possible you were buying shares with your (huge) dividends. I was and haven't received anything in the last few days. To be honest just want rid now, taking up too much room in the recycling bin and never knowing what to hold on to and what to throw out.

Yes I was actually. So therefore I should by rights have received more shares????

My other half was getting paid her dividends directly to her bank account. She received payment into her account in and around the last 10 days, but no documentation in the post either for her.

Maybe our stuff has gotten lost in the post? Is there anyone else in same boat? How would we go about making enquirys?

I'm not very well up on this but if Verison are taking over the company I don't think Vodafone shares are available to purchase any longer maybe that's why we didn't get any dividend and they will be added to our payout. I've no idea who to contact, I didn't even know a dividend had been paid recently.

Had the mandate signed to receive more shares instead of the dividend & haven't received any share Certs recently, neither did other family members who also had opted for extra shares. Must be accross the board for everyone.

Vodafone shares can still be bought and sold, 5 million traded in London already this morning.

Vodafone paid an interim dividend of 3.53p on 5th February. If you have signed up for cash payment to be lodged to your bank account you will already have received this cash in your bank account.

If you signed up to receive your dividend by way of extra shares, keep a cool head and a dry pants, your shares are on the way.

Edit: I'm beginning to doubt myself on this now, as far as I can remember the 'Form of Election' showed the number of shares you hold, so that wouldn't include any additional shares allocated as part of this dividend, so I'm not sure how they are going to handle this.

Second Edit: I've just checked with Computershare, your certs for the interim dividend should be on the way, and these additional shares will be taken into account in the 'Return of Value' process.
