Hi guys, just looking for some advice re Mazda 3 timing chin. Have the car bout 4 months but lately in the colder weather there's a slight rattle on start up when the car hasn't been used for a day or so, I'm pretty sure its the timing chain as its coming from around the oil filler cap area and it makes the noise for about 1 min and once the engine warms up it runs fine, I'm just wondering am I looking at having to get it replaced or is is just because the oil hasn't fully circulated that it rattles?

Sounds like a tensioner leaking oil pressure.

Could be an oil supply issue. Is the car well looked after? regularly serviced ?

I havent had it serviced yet since I bought it (had a regular service history prior to that)but was fully serviced on purchase from the garage, I keep a regular check on oil level and car is running fine apart from the noise on start up.
