Visa application and driving conviction

As the title says basically I received a conviction many years ago for an insurance driving offence. There was no malice or desire to get one over by not having insurance, I was young stupid and I was just back to work out of college, and was trying to get the money together to renew my insurance. I am an honest, hard working person and this is the only time i've been in trouble. I was filling out my visa app for Oz and had no doubt in mind that I was going to put it down and just plead my case. I was then advised not to, told by many people it's not even a criminal conviction, that my visa wouldn't be approved and numerous other reasons such as it wasn't necessary etc. I didn't put it down and got my visa. I'm now worried sick they're going to stick me straight back on the plane and that my dream of travelling could be ruined by my stupidity. I'm nearly tempted to write to immigration and declare it, or put it on my Incoming Passenger Card and say it was an error or something. Any advice please?

Driving without insurance is a criminal offence, NOT a simple motoring offence!

OP my view is that you should have included it

however, seeing as they have granted the visa its unlikely they will suddenly find out about it and deport you on arrival.

I know people who were granted visa to Australia with drink driving/no insurance convictions and were able to go without any bother.

How will they know that you have been convicted? I know the US cant tell, I presume its the same for Aus.

They have no way of knowing.

I know a guy who was granted one while he had a warrant out for not paying fines. Don't worry about it, they would only be concerned if it was a violent crime or big drug conviction.

    I wouldn't give it a second thought.

    Hi op

I travelled to Oz on a one year in 08

When you land they will put sticker in your passport which is basically your visa and off you go

I dont think you have much to worry about here so say nothing and

    enjoy your time out there.
