    Hi

I have an apartment with very bad mold on the outside bedroom wall - tenant is actually feeling very unwell as a result of this.
The bedroom which is located next to the bathroom has trickle vents in the window and the bathroom has an extractor fan with a built in timer.
I am thinking of replacing the existing fan in the bathroom with a trickle fan - one which is on 24hrs but when light switch 'On' he gives a boost.

Would this make much difference to mold problem - can anyone recommend a good make of fan?

    Thanks in advance

I had damp/mold in my bedroom. What I did was cleaned the mold with bleach and lemon juice. Drilled a 6-8 mm hole through the wall in the corner where the damp was. That was 6 or 7 months ago and it hasn't came back.

Anti-mould paint is a big help - it at least delays recurrence and makes it easy to clean off when it does

Yes, this will help a lot. Centrifugal fans are better then axial. Ensure the ducting which the fan must push the air through is as short as possible with as few bends as possible. Also, a vent in the bathroom door is required such that the fan can still operate optimally when the bathroom door is closed.

Thanks for replies - anti mold paint is useless and just covers the problem. There is already a centrifugal fan in bathroom.

Has anyone any experience with using mini dehumidifiers - I have heard the type that works at cold temperature are the way to go - anybody recommend any model. Thanks

Anti mould paint will work to a degree but only to stop mould occurring in the first place. You can't paint it over mould. The mould must be completely removed before applying the anti mould paint. Anti mould is about prevention not cure.

Cross ventilation is the only way of fixing this problem
