Right, which would you rather see in physical pain? A human or an animal? By human i dont mean a family member/friend/associate etc. and by animal i dont mean fly/ant etc.

eg watching the news - Person lying in a pool of blood in Syria or dog on fire in Timbuktu?

Which would you rather see in pain? 166 votes

If you would rather see a human being in pain than an animal then there is something seriously wrong with you.

How is this even a question?

Anyone ( animal or human ) that inflicts pain on another animal or human

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,534 ✭✭✭SV

No difference really, if it's just a video.

If it's in "real life" then probably an animal as they're not as important as humans I guess.

Some animals are far more important than some humans.

I didn't think the video was that bad.

I would like to see each hurting the other. A cow trampling a man as he slashes at it with a knife. That would be awesome.

I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
Without ever having felt sorry for itself

Ohhh, poetic. This generations Seamus Heaney (who BTW I have no idea about other than he wrote poems and is dead - but you trump him)

Give us another one about a rat this time.

Eh, neither... What a weird question...

Although I will say one thing- it's amazing the huge outpouring of anger here and in the media in general when an animal is killed or tortured, and is often less so when a human is murdered. Not saying people have more sympathy for the animal, I'm just saying it's something I've noticed. I wonder why that is?

I couldn't stand to see any living creature be they animal or human suffer!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,358 ✭✭✭Aineoil

Neither, but that's not a choice on the poll.

    Btw

Animals can smell death (I think), I had to get my dog put down because he was a danger to people. The day I brought him to the vet, he went crazy. It was a very sad day, but human safety was more important at the time.

    Ugly scenes.

Those people clearly lack the facilities to handle cattle correctly and slaughter them humanely. That and slaughtering cattle seems to be a form of street theatre for them. It's a novelty for them, this is evidenced by the fascination of bystanders and the inexpert, chaotic, dangerous way the animals are handled.

You're saying, hand on heart, that you would prefer to see a man, woman or child treated this way than an animal?

    Yeah, seen that myself, disgusting.

I would like to beat the living crap out of the people who farm Angora Rabbits in China. They keep them caged for years and every three months they rip the fur off them by hand. Here is a recent article about it which includes a video also.

    An animal.

Why would anyone place an animal above a human?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 153 ✭✭Arrow.

Depends on the human/animal and the circumstances.

Seeing as how animals don't really have a choice in what human's do to them or affect them, I'd probably go with 'human'.

Human's inflict more pain and misery in other human's than animals do, so I might be doing another human a favour.

I don't know why that's hard to grasp.

Its not about choosing one over the other, it's. Just that generally speaking one is more defenseless than the other. Id rather see a pedofile being hurt than a tied up horse, but would rather see a dangerous dog being put down than a child being beaten. In both circumstances context applies and the more defenseless is the least appealing to watch.

I cant believe I've given a serious answer in such a stupid. AH thread.

I've never quite understood how some people (my wife included) would give money to animal charities ahead of those for people.

I'm all for people living with the consequences of their own actions but there's a lot of people in this world through who are suffering through absolutely no fault of their own and they deserve our help more than abandoned cats/dogs imo.

animal every time. have very low opinion of the human race.
how we've managed to survive this far with the amount of jackasses in our midst is nothing short of a miracle.

animals don't cause cruelty to others, animal or human, and only attack with reason.
humans on the other hand, just leave me cold.
