anyone know of any good deals in car rentals? I'm coming home for xmas and need to hire one for 2 weeks. I've checked online but avis/thrifty etc all charge an arm and a leg. And thats just for a mini or similar

    carhire3000 is a site I normally use, I think they're associated with cartrawler.com

Around Christmas time though, I'd say the prices will go up a little due to the increase in demand.

Christmas is the busiest time of the year for car rental companies. It is literally a case of not enough supply to meet demand so they can and will charge what they like and know they will get it.

The third week of December is very late to be booking a rental car for Christmas around prices and availability to be honest.

Aren't Minis in particular treated as "fun" cars and charged out at a more expensive rate than other cars that size? Or were you referring to the small cars in general (Fiesta / Micra etc.)?

There's another thread here about renting around Christmas. There may be some useful info for you in there.

i guess what i'm asking is, does anyone know somebody locally? i'm not talking about all the big names online like budget, thrifty, avis but a smaller, local business.
