Hi guys I have a question about duty free. I'm flying to Dublin from Darwin but I stop off at Singapore Frankfort and Manchester on the way, I'm with different airlines from Darwin to Singapore and Manchester to Dublin but with Lufthansa from Singapore as far as Manchester, do ye think I'd have any problems getting duty free through customs on the way if I bought it from Darwin or Singapore?

I suspect this is not the right forum, but here you go anyway - http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/travel_and_recreation/travel_to_ireland/customs_regulations_for_travellers.html

rules are the same across EU, so make sure you don't go over your allowance. Similar allowances are enforced in Singapore as well, but what matters is - will you be entering the Singapore or not? If you're not going through customs, then it doesn't matter

I'd buy it in Singapore as i'm not too sure what way your luggage is going to interline between different airlines. AFAIK the duty free shops in Australia don't use STEBS bags(a clear sealed bag with red border that's recognised by most Asian/Middle Eastern and European airports) so any liquids would be taken from you at your first security check in Singapore. Singapore do use them to the best of my knowledge, ask in the shop before you buy,if they don't have them and your luggage will not meet you until Dublin then i'd leave it as you'll have it taken from you in Manchester.

I'm assuming you meant security concerns more than customs concerns.

I'm guessing the OP has a main piece of luggage in the hold as well as their hand luggage. If so then I suppose the thing to do is buy the duty free in Singapore and then when you land in Manchester transfer it into your main luggage before flying onward with a different airline to Dublin - I'm presuming you've got an onward flight from Manchester with Ryanair or Aer Lingus, if that's the case you're going to have to get your bags and re-check them in, this is your opportunity to change the duty free from hand luggage to hold luggage and thus avoid getting your spirits nabbed by security under the 150ml rule.

Ya that's correct, Im with aer lingus regional from Manchester to Dublin so they could be strict with weight. I think ill buy the stuff in Singapore so and then throw them into my baggage before checkin..eventhough id probably be over weight anyway..would aer lingus be strict for weight?

The weight you are allowed all depends on how you booked your flight! If you booked it all in the one itinerary then your weight allowance will be the same all the way! So for example aer lingus would honor the Singapore airlines weight limit as you are just connecting with them, this would also mean you wouldnt see your bag from check in at Darwin untill you land at Dublin, i suspect this is not what you're going with though!
Did you book all or some of your flights separately? If so for those flights you will have to collect your bag and re-check-in . If you have booked a separate flight with aer lingus from Manchester to Dublin and booked a bag then its 20kg max , and yes I would be careful about weight! Are they strict? Well yes relatively so ! I mean there is a limit for a reason!!!
What you need to figure out is how to keep your liquids (duty free) from being taken from you at security! As you are not allowed over 100ml!
