    Hey,

Does anyone know of any wood craft places in Dublin? I've seen a few things recently in shops that got me thinking about trying to make them at home myself. Some of them were some simple wood carvings on planks, others were wooden stencils of animals and Christmas designs.

Any info would be great - classes, materials, tools!?

    Cheers,
    Brian-

Hi Brian maybe start off with a basic carving set or whittling knife.
http://www.handyhardware.ie/product/15734/Woodcarving-Set-in-Case-12-Piece There is lots of info on the net that will keep you going for the moment and you can pick up bit's of wood anywhere like walking on a beach or through a forest a local workshop will also have a bin full of different types of wood that I'm sure they would let you have some for little or nothing. The best woods to use are hardwoods like Bass or lime wood,Chestnut,Oak,walnut,Mahogany or Teak but to start off you might find a soft wood like Pine easier to work with.
    Best of luck.
