Wedding NYC - Is it okay to ask hotel this?

    Hi there

We are getting married in New York this New Years Eve.

Trip to NYC was planned prior to the plan to get married, so at the time, luxurious accommodation wasn't an option.

We also prepaid for the accommodation at the time to get a better rate.
Is it okay to now ask the hotel if there is any upgrades they may be able to offer us as we are getting married the night we stay in their hotel?

Is this very cheeky or is there no harm in asking? I'm genuinely not sure of the etiquette here

    Thanks

Definitely ask. We went to NY on honeymoon. Mentioned it everywhere we could. Being newlyweds, we got upgraded.

Hi There, new to the boards but had to respond!
We got engaged back in September and had already booked a holiday to NYC for thanksgiving. Being cheeky, I mentioned it to the guy at the check in desk at the hotel and he upgraded us 5 levels from a standard room to a suite! Anyone we mentioned it to in NY was so excited for us, we got free drinks and an upgrade on the plane home. And thats only being engaged!
I would totally mention it everywhere, tell the restaurant you have picked for dinner and definately the hotel! As Passremarkable said, the worst they can say is no, but I would imagine they will be thrilled to spoil you both! Congrats and enjoy that amazing city!

    Hi there

    Thanks for the replies!

So, I mentioned it to the hotel and we were upgraded to a deluxe room right away, without any hesitations, free of charge! :)

    Getting excited now!
